The "USS America" appears to differ from yacht "America" in that teh "USS" kit has a jib boom, and a fore topmast, to go with the rather, ah, unique, cannons.

The "bones' are still there, and it will build into a beautiful kit.

I recently bought the USS America, which I believe is the same kit with cannon.  I got a good deal with no tax and free shipping.  It's in my small stash.

Overall it's not a bad price and could keep you busy for quite a while.  I would shop around online. It should be much cheaper than a LHS.

Not much difference in price, really-- at least not here in New England. 

It is in the shops with a list price of $50 to $55, which is pretty good value for money.

If you don't have a LHS, Tower Hobbies has it for $48, and if you sign up for their mailing list, you often get e-coupons for free shipping or $10 off discounts for a $50 purchase.   (Add a bottle of paint or glue and you hit the threshold!) 

Because it's a nice model. It's the same kit as old, rereleased.

They are all over the map on eBay. Problem is it's a BIG box and shipping is $ 10.
