HELLER "PlayStation" catamaran question.
Posted by buman on Monday, July 23, 2018 1:48 PM

Hello all !

I am building the HELLER "PlayStation" catamaran and everything is going well EXCEPT the paper transfer decals. Ironing as stated doesn't do anything ! Has anyone built the kit in question and came accross this issue ? Thank you so much.

Oliver

I saw the question and don’t know the answer.

Thanks for posting though because I was not familiar with that kit and it looks like a nice one.

Its the mesh stretched between the hulls, right?

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Yes that is correct - 3 meshes total (2 front - one back)  all having the Playstion logo embedded.

I am an HELLER aficionado: it is indeed a nice little kit (refreshing topic as it is a catamaran) but a kit that needs some work about the fitting. It also has a lot of decals.

I am working on something to resolve this issue :) If I am succesful I will post the solution here !

Thank so much for taking the time to drop a note about this.

Well.... :)

Thinking that the transfer paper was old (as mine was one of the first issued kits) I decided to scan the PlayStation logo and print it on a brand new transfer paper.

And I ironed again... for two hours !! :)

Largest mesh: I managed to get the logo on it but extremely faint.
The 2 small meshes: nothing.

I then decided to paint the 2 small meshes following the pattern underneath... ahaha... HUGE mess as even with a black / white primer the paint would not really stick to the mesh: it went both on top and thru the mesh.

I gave up. I will still have an okay logo display concerning the large mesh and just two regular meshes at the front.

I should have known that ironing isn't my thing anyway :) :)
