The modeling kit Oc Cre has released the HMS TERROR in 1/65 scale for those who are interested in the tragic 1845 arctic expedition of Sir John Franklin. Built in 1813, this historic British bomb vessel had a long active service for the Royal Navy. During the War of 1812, took part in the bombardment of Fort Mc Henry in Baltimore harbor, participated in George Bank's arctic expedition in 1836-1837, the Ross arctic expedition in 1839 to 1843, and finally, with her sister ship HMS EREBUS, met her tragic end trying to find the North West Passage in the Canadian arctic. Discovered recently by Parks Canada, this sunken wreck is almost in pristine condition. She was chosen to sail in arctic explorations because of her stout construction as a bomb vessel to resist ice barriers.
