Yeah ;
That's my frustration with the New Jersey and Wisconsin kits too .They are NOT WW2 fit !
The "real" fun with that oldddddd Revell Enterprise kit was to try to update it to the current fit, having to scratchbuild a new mast, lots of sponsons and all the other bits to bring the kit up to, in my case, its 2007 appearance.
Ed;
Oh , you are so right . Their Gearings were good enough in 1/350 they even frammed easy ! But as with the Benson/Gleaves they were Over - Engineered . I loved it though .I bought twelve of the Gearings and scared the hades out of my Hobby Shop owner when I placed the order .
Why so Many ? Well six were built to post war specs and they were all different . Same with the six Fram jobs . I gave them away to guys who served on them for Christmas Presents.
I got to build them , that's where the fun is ! I am thinking about doing it to the Fletchers available too ! T.B.
Hmmm;
I thought someone produced a 1/350 with that Beehive .

The big Aurora Enterprise (1:400 scale) was re-issued first by Monogram, then by Revell USA (after Revell acquired Monogram). Bert Kinsey, in his Detail & Scale USS Enterprise review of available kits called the Aurora/Monogram/Revell a distant second to the 1:400 Otaki in a two horse race. He even rated the Otaki better than the 1:350 Tamiya offering.
Reissued by Revell; the big dream kit of my youth was the 1/400 Aurora model.
Stared at that 3 foot box under the tree for a week.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Jester75 Curious how far they made it into the kit. Would’ve sold like crazy I’m pretty sure. I’ve heard they shifted their focus to Marvel (seriously?!?) after buying the rights.

EdGrune There is a 3D printed replacement island in 1:350 scale for the Tamiya. You still have to do all the other refit items

Tamiya's 1/350 Enterprise does not have the old beehive; I believe it to be the post 1982 fit. And that kit is regularly available; Amazon has it in the $180 US range.
STOVK;
There was a Tamiya Kit in 1/350 , A big sucker too ! It seems it has been unavailable for at least ten years now .

That kit sir, is vaporware
The old Revell USA 1:720 scale USS Enterprise has the billboard antennas and beehive dome
I believe that the new Revell AG is re-releasing it.
I think the old Otaki 1:400 kit had the behive (now OOP & $$$)
Does anyone know if there is a model kit available of the USS Enterprise CVN 65 with the ECM beehive Dome?
It was removed in the 1979 to 1982 refit.
