I read that some Liberty Ships (not T-2s) were built as tankers.
Anyone have info plans or photos on these versions?
Google has got nothing on this.
Might be an interesting conversion of a kit.
Just curious.
You have never been lost until you've been lost at Mach 3!

This seems to be a bit of a motherlode:

For a group of ships numbering almost 3,000, it's hard to know. I haven't seen where any were built as tankers, however there were hundreds of them still in service after the war and they were used/ modified to do all kinds of things.
One fundamental problem was that they were ssslllooowwww. Even the T2s had turbine engines, not the old triple expansion steam piston engine from the earlier part of the Century. They could carry fuel as cargo I'm sure, but wouldn't work as fleet oilers.
If you do find info, Sharkbait; please share.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
