Nice post, Mike. I spent a couple of hours this morning tracking through the history of the CPMYC, the Kerbs Memorial Boat House and even Edward Kerbs himself.
Kerbs was a founder of a cigar company that eventually grew through mergers and sales into the United Cigar Company and is now the General Cigar Company, which has dozens of brands.
That was a very nice way for their daughter to honor her parents, who lives at 19 E. 82nd St. on the Upper East Side, Nice neighborhood, Mike.
Pond racing was a huge sport, esp. during the Depression. San Francisco had it's own yacht water, Stowe Lake, in Golden Gate Park. I think Tanker Builder used to sail models there. I liked to watch the boats there, and like the CPMYC, they were available to rent as well.
The Revell America model is a capable pond sailer. The kit comes with an add-on pond sailing centerboard.
