Hi "G";
I didn't have to plate mine .Not with plastic anyway. I used standard typing paper to make my plates and good old Ambroid glue to stick it in place . The upperworks were from toothpicks and plastic cross shaped Swizzle Sticks !
A friend's dad ( who owned a English Sports car dealership) saw it and wanted it . Well , He gave it to his dad .The planes were carved balsa and carved balsa blocks .I did it probably when I was twelve and had just read a boy's adventure book on one .They had all these drawings inside so that's the referrence I used .
His dad asked me if I got an allowance and I had to admit my dad being a Fisherman, didn't have funds for that. He gave me $20.00 and said if I would wash a car a week he would give me $20.00 bucks each time .But , They better be clean !
That's how I got my first Large Lindberg Sport Fishing Boat .Gees there were tons of them in Miami at the time .I just had to have one .I don't remember how it turned out , But , I do remember i was proud of it .I made it look Like Uncle Al's boat !
