How do You Do ?

My name doesn't matter right now .Do you remember the ship models in Travel Agencies windows ? Like the Liners of an Age Gone By .You know ,the Queens and the S.S.Untied States and the S.S. America ?

I have built the " Queens" One model type and company's model , much kit bashing . Do You remember the U.S.S.Layfayette ? No ? How about the NORMANDIE ? Same ship, No Model ever done by the well known companies .

Now how about these Moore-mcCormack coastal Cruise ships .Miami to South America . Nope .Well , the one model done, the Moore-McCormack Brasil by Revell .

How about the one and only Nuclear Freighter/Passenger ship " Savannah " ? Many were seen in these windows over the years .I even can safely mention P& O's Oriana and Canberra . Some have come out in paper .Large and small . I found one of the 1/800 plastic display models of a ship I have in paper that's over three foot long .That's why it's still in the envelope . The name escapes these feeble grey cells just now .

Look for them .You would be surprised what shows up in Flea Markets and Antique stores . I have the larger models of the United States and the America . Both quite large ( I think about 28-36 inches .Sad these .You Can build the America and be almost be dead on .But the Untied States should be longer . Both are made from the same molds and they are hull and upperworks re-pops of the Pyro,Life-Like , Lindberg , American President Liners , which are a lot smaller than the United States and America in real life

The Matson liners, Fuggedaboud it !I have Never seen a Model of the Matsonia , Mariposa or the Lurline and Monterey anywhere ! Just Revell's well worn C-3 class freighter " Hawaiian Pilot " So Look around and see what kind of Floaty Thingie of this type you can come up with ! Tanker-Builder

While those ships mentioned would make great subjects, and would have a following, I don't think any of the mainstream compainies will deliver on them.  A following for sure, but enough to make the investment worthwhile?

I can remember some of them, but I fear that styrene kits that are in anyway accurate will ever see the light of day.  Unfortunate, but models of them will fall to the scrapper's torches, as did many of the ships themselves.

TB, since when did those travel agencies display aircraft carriers as those names plus the USS prefix meant those 2 aircraft carriers? i think you meant S.S. United States & S.S. America.
