Heller Soleil Royal missing part?
Posted by Stick1234 on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 9:08 AM

I'm missing a part from the ship but when I went on the Heller website to get one there is a note: Online sales are temporarily suspended as well as after sales service. !

These foreign companies do not care about customer service. They just want to sell their products and turn their backs on you. I have the same issue with Trumpter and Revell.

How can I get part # 214?

Stick1234;

    This probably won't help .I have never had trouble with their customer Support .be old fashioned and try their Customer Support Phone number .If you get nothing there ,well maybe they are undergoing changes we in America are not aware of .Send a picture of the part to the forum and maybe someone can help here .T.B.

Is this part 214?

 I think there should be 2 of these. One at the mainmast and one at the foremast.  Heller instructions are rather poor so I may be reading the online copy wrong.

  It does look tough to copy by making a mold but if there are 2 on the sprue and if you are only missing one of these perhaps you could make another from plastic using the existing one as a guide.   If you are missing both, write a real letter to Heller, as they do respond. If you got the kit from an authorized  Dealer they should be contacted to do the " leg work" for you.

  There's plenty to do on this kit while you are waiting.  I suspect this part could be added later, just before you start the rigging... in maybe a year or two.

The Heller part missing seems to be a fife rail for rope coiling. Instead of going through the hastle of ording a new part, #214 could be hand made either by wood, or scrap plastic, just by looking at the illustration on the plans.

Thanks much, but I finally found it on the carpet. Must have fell off the table when I was working near it.

Thanks.

Now I have to figure out how to paint the gold trim on the sides and rear of the ship. My hands are not as steady as they use to be.

Frank,

I have used fine tipped gold markers for this. They are readily available at Walmart, Michaels, etc., and they work great for fine detail.

Bought a couple yesterday and they work great! Thanks for the advise.
