Any 1/350 USS Atlanta kits?
Posted by TxAggie05 on Saturday, June 15, 2019 5:18 PM

howdy all,

I‘m looking for a 1/350 USS Atlanta kit but not finding much. I don’t want to shell out the $200 for the resin kit and only found something from dragon kit 1039, but when I google that, it doesn’t yield any results. Are there any others?

thanks

There are not. The Dragon kit is vaporware; it was allocated a number and appeared in their catalog years back, but was never released. The Blue Water Navy resin kit is the only one I am aware of in that scale.

Iron Shipwright makes a resin and brass Atlanta in 1:350 scale.  It is on their current website   In a recent discussion on another forum the ISW kit drew positive remarks

Gulfstream Models also made a resin & brass Atlanta.   It ‘featured’ a four piece hull which made for strange construction issues.

Blue Water Navy was bought by Yankee Modelworks which was in turn bought by Blue Ridge Models.   Blue Ridge has no plans to re-release this kit.   It is very dated and the time & effort to bring it into the 21st century would make it cost prohibitive.

Yes,the Dragon kit is vapor ware.

In 1/700 there are a number of options, all based on the Pit Road kit. I'm building one sold as USS San Diego. There's a major flaw in the full hull, but it would be a straightforward waterline build.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
