Thank you for closing the loop for us. The FSM editor should have given the author/modeler the same credit in this special edition magazine.
I'm glad you brought this ??? up. I've never thought a lot about that class of ships other than death of the Bismark involving KGV in 1941, Roosevelt meeting Churchill on PoW in 1941, PoW being sunk in late 1941. It's been interesting to read up more.
The British sort of got screwed building five 14" battleships hoping that the USN and the IJN would stick to the treaty. But they were fast seaworthy ships and had a high rate of fire.
The four/ two arrangement kept the moment of roll lessened, and the missing eleventh and twelfth rifles translated into more armor elsewhere.
Both diving expeditions and action damage reports suggrst that PoW was not mortally wounded by torpedoes. The important watertight bulkheads held. But poor damage control and communication, allowed the B shaft engines to be restarted, the shaft which had been hit and was damaged started to flail destroying the waterproof gland where it exited the hull and flood the engineering spaces in the ship.
Loss of life was bad at 375 plus, but not horrible if thats possible like Bismark, Hood and Arizona that same year.

keilau keilau GMorrison I'd guess it's the Tamiya HMS Prince of Wales, but I haven't bought the magazine yet. It may be it. From the 4/2 barrels main gun turrent, the chance of being one of the Battleship King George V-class model is very good. But it surprised me that the model used on the cover was not mentioned in the magazine. I may find its mention when I read it in more details. Any sharp eyes person has more insight on the cover picture model? Why the editor chose one not featured in the magazine?

I found out where Mine went! It was mailed to my Son again ! I wish the distributor or Kalmbach would get it right !Now,I have to wait til the mail brings it from Michigan!
Mine arrived from Michigan The 1st of July ( yistidiy ) and although I build proffessionally I was totally engrossed by the articles. Seems like they all go about it right. I only wish AARON had picked a different ship to write about .
I don' know too many Modelers around here even that have that one , or even want it. Most I've seen, some locals groan that's it is like putting together a toy. I do have it along with the single hull version. I like them both. It's the future man !
Although the E-Boat was fascinating I still prefer to build models of the older Un-Armored Wheel-House versions. And that Sub-Chaser WOW - Funny, that is the first large ship model ( Single model) I ever had, and now I have dozens it seems.Various conversions over the years .
All in All a very informattive and lusciously pictured magazine !!!Now, How about someone doing an article about building a Victory Class?They went on to some very different lives those Victorys did. I think its time, don't you ?

Got mine a few days ago, really interesting read. I don't do many ship models but have some larger scale ones in the pipeline. Its going to come in very useful.
I liked the S-Boot article, but no way i am going to those lengths on mine.

My first glance at it, I concur. This looks packed with good tips, especially for a greenhorn ship builder like me. It was worth the price and I am savoring the read, taking it slow.
It finally arrived after I ordered it months ago. Flipping through the pages seems to show very interesting read. It is well worth the price.
However, I could not find out which model is on the cover.
