Title - World War II & the Great Lakes

Wes Oleszewski

ISBN 978-1-892384-77-5

Lots of very interesting stuff about Great Lakes shipbuilding, and other war materials. Quite a facinating read.

GM and Don, you would like this book.

We were vacationing in the Marquette, Munising, Escanaba area of the Upper Penninsula of Michigan, stumbled on this book at a gift shop.

I'll look for it.  Always interested in Great Lakes shipbuilding.  Did  you get to the Pictured Rocks?

Absolutely!  We spent 10 days in the Marquette, Munising, Escanaba area and did a lot of waterfall searches, boat cruises along the pictured rocks area, Grand Island tour, land side lookouts of the Lake Superior shoreline, etc, along with plenty of Lake Superior whitefish dinners.

My oldest son (54) is the equipment Sergeant for the 126 army band and they were doing their summer tour in the area. My wife and I become 126 band groupies every summer. In between, we do all the snooping around stuff. He has mixed service with Army and Army National Guard with his Guard service all full time service. Part time Guard get retired when they get 20 years in or 60 years old. Full time guard, and especially with mixed service, can retire after 20 or stay until age 62. He'll have his 20 in three years, but I think he'll stay as long as he can. He's the drummer in this pic and full time equipment Sgt.

In the meantime mom and I have an excuse to travel the state every year, at least as long as we can.
