LonCray;

       I would hope no one met their demise. If He is in as bad a shape as folks say, he'd be better on the bottom. Being a fish reef might the right way to go. Remember how many lives they wasted at CherNobyl?

(Not really 60 hours ... just felt like it.) Wink However, it's hard to keep up with Surface World all the time.

Thanks for the clarification. Still, shipboard fires are horrible.

I've been in an underground mine for about 60 hours, and just got back to the terrible weather of SurfaceWorld a few hours ago. I haven't really looked at the news. Some sparky who came down yesterday was talking about it. I guess I should read up!

Fire at sea is about the worst thing any vessel can face, particularly a capital warship. I hope that the human toll is kept to a minimum, and that the sailors return to their home port soon.

That said, the Kuznetsov has a demonstrated record of being a real garbage scow. I'm not especially in favor of a return to the Soviet days of navies from the East roaming far and wide, but I don't really relish Russia losing an imprtant asset. We never know when we might find ourselves fighting a common enemy. Like Switzerland. I still say the neutrality bit is a ploy. We must stand ready to face the Swiss navy!

You have to remember what they started with.  They grabbed the Graff Z at the end of the war, and that was never finished either.

Maybe they should just give up on the idea.

the Chinese would not touch that carrier with a 100' pole. besides which the Chinese are building their own carriers so maybe can sell 1 to Russia as they appear not capable of building a completely working carrier themselves.

Many articles on Google.  Apparently a spark fell on fuel oil; at least one dead.  I think that ship is snake bitten; his dry dock sank out from under him and broke.  If this fire is as extensive as thought, he may never sail again - though you never know when the Chinese may need another 'amusement park'.
