Oh come on Ben, your Arizona leaves my mouth open with your PE work.
steve5I'll just watch the master at work
Thank you Steve, no master here, just following the instructions.
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Thanks Chris, yes, nuch thought. I will paint and weather it prior to attaching the deck for good. Once it is attached I'll apply the wood deck. That's quite aways off.
I'm supposed to receive the cable reels PE today so once I FINALLY complete the flight deck framework, I'll get back on the hull. Especially since everything I ordered for it will have come in by then......I can't remember if I ordered the PE for the 25mm guns
Wow this is going fast For PE! Definitely skill based. It's starting to take shape. Have you thought about how to get it all covered in paint with all those postsand girders?
In the pattern: a dual build of my KittyHawk F-5's.
Almost complete with the stern girders. Just some pillars and what look to be walkways(?) then on to the mid section. The deck is just dry fitted to the hull. Hase supplied some huge aligling pins to set everything correctly.
That looks outstanding Chris. Now how did you do the dots on the floor? I know you said but haven't gone back through the posts.
I received a few things last night. I was so busy playing with them that I didn't get a whole lot done. I did get an hour on some more of the stern girder framework. I'm planning on finishing it up with, hopefully, the pillars, or at least get them made. I'm not sure I want to attach them until I fit the deck on just yet. We'll see, I may dry fit the deck, attach the pillars to the framework, then paint it all. I think it would be more difficult masking and painting with everything together.
The pic of the bow girders
The laser cut paper set from South Korea. 12 page instructions and 6 "trees".
Some other items that arrived including the aircraft PE set.
Horribly dreary and rainy day here. Finished up decals in the hangar bay! Here's just a broad pic of them to show how it's turning out. Microsol tonight then clearcoat tomorrow and then it's back on the planes. Gotta start the roof as well...
you might see a decal or two(?) from my F-18 haha didn't have any triangles so I cut them from the danger decals for the cockpit!
EDIT- Sorry about posting in wrong spot. Another senior moment for me haha
Thanks Chris. I don't think it's the half of what's to come
MC that curvature in the stern girders is a whole new level of skill! Awesome work.
DRUMS01 Holy smokes Steve! Your committment to accuracy is killing me on this one! I am really excited for you to complete those little boogers..... I never knew they make 1/350 aircraft to that level of accuracy. WOW!!! Ben

Just trying to keep up with your standards Ben.
Much done this weekend. PE girders and dry fitting to the hull to make sure all is streight. I apperently didn't take a picture of bow work. Too bad because that took most of Sunday to do.
Stern girders just about done
A little addition to the fore deck.
All that work covered. used filler to smoothe out the join
The stern girders, not attached. I need to smooth the filler. Also there is a smaller section just aft of this section. I'll work on that then install the pillers. After test fitting, all of this will need to be painted. Again, it's to bad I didn't take a pic of the bow work
ikar01When you get to the underside of the rear flight deck, you will find a sort of track with what appears to be a traveling box attached. I have no idea what that thing was for, do you?
I believe I know what you're talking about.
They would be the searcglight evevators
I would even hate to try and find pricing on it. Has to be about as high as the ISS.
Edit...just did a quick look. Scalemates had it a 2 bills, evidently when it came out in 2016.
And probably costs 3x as much, but the detail is incredable. I did find some detail sets for US aircraft. They have seatbelts.....in 1/350!
Looked over the link.... I know better than to order the CV-6 set. That thing is just plain nuts. Almost replaces the entire merit kit.
Chris, it's Infini Model, South Korea

They are making some INSANE PE sets. Pricy, but insane
ModelCrazy this choice will not get you out of that 2021 Nationals commitment you made! lol. That PE for the planes is imsane. Who does that!
Tojo72You are insane I am going to have trouble putting together and painting the plastic planes, never mind PE.
Not sure what I'm thinking.
goldhammer1/350 PE interiors?????. Steve has fallen down the rabbit hole too far to get back out.
I've built 1/72 and 1/48 scale planes with less detail.
I'm hopping the spinners and ordanance come in soild brass pieces. The price for the set suggests it.
Mopar MadnessNever seen anything like that before.
I know right? It must be new cause it's just for Hase's planes and nothing else that I can find.
Ikar...1/350 PE interiors?????. Steve has fallen down the rabbit hole too far to get back out.
I would suspect that an overhead track and box would be some kind of hoist/trolly system for heavy items, maybe engines to get them to a test stand after repairs.
Steve... I hope the spinners for the zeros are preformed.
I'd nail the unopened package to the wall over the bench with a railroad spike and a sign..."WHAT WAS I THINKING".
Never seen anything like that before. This is going to become an heirloom piece.
Well if you do start to go off the deep end, not as deep as the Akagi did we hope, my brother is a pshchologist in Reno.
