Didn't think it wouild be that long. A 1/48th or even 1/72nd would be nice but I'll have to settle for 1/35th. I don't need a larger one, my Seaquest kit is teh longest kit I have, it's about 40 inches. I think I finally foiund a box to store it in, a office floescent bulb box.
The Merit/I Love Kit model at 1/35th scale is about 17-1/2” long. That’s a pretty decent length. Were you looking for something even larger?
“Ya ya ya, unicorn papoi!”
Since I heard of this boat and listened to one of the crew who were captured and on the deck of Tirpitz when the second subs charges went offI was hoping for a larger kit to come out.
The tow crew was on board. Three or four.
They were to switch with the attack crew at the approach to the target.
Italeri had a great series of 1/35 smaller attack craft. Unfortunately they never made this one.
Theres a story about the discussion of the fins being right/wrong on the model.
Apparently they are wrong on the reassembled boat in a museum, but right on the model.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
I had heard that they lost one of the x-craft on the way to the target. I never heard if there was anybody on board while they were being towed.
The chances of finding something that size are not good, it could have spirled dpwn for some distance. But they did find the Mercury capsule which is smaller.
ikar01 I just saw a add for a X-Craft kit from a company called I Love Kit. Has anybody heard of this company before, and if so, how good are they?

"I Love Kit" models are a new brand name for Trumpeter/Merit plastic kits. Same plastic as previously kitted
Most of the kits were marketed by Merit International, except for the Atomic Annie.
I have the X-Craft - it’s pretty nice but the screw is really anemic. There was something about the vertical and horizontal dive planes being mixed up, and an actuator rod being incorrectly duplicated on the opposite side. The saddle charges curiously have clevises but no securing cables.
