You're welcome. So far I have found Tamiya makes some pretty good stuff!

Some of the best, especially if you don't mind mixing colors for yourself.

I like their paint and especially their masking tape. I usually do mix my own colors with Tamiya.

are you going to build a case for it chris , it's such a lovely clean build .

For now it's in a plexiglass case under my Titanic. I just want to keep the dust off it. If I do build more maybe I will buy some sort of curio cabinet or something similar to put them in.

It has a presense about it, life like. In photos  it looks bigger than 1/600. Awesome work, looks beautiful. Seriously.

Tamiya, thanks for that. Was just curious is all.

That's looking awesome ! Ya know I skimmed through the whole thread looking for paint brands and any mention of paint. Maybe I missed it but curious what you have been using for paint in this build ?

Thank you Don and oldermodelguy. As far as paint I used all Tamiya, both their acrylics through an airbrush and their spray cans for primer and the Photo etch.

1/600 Queen Elizabeth is now done. I finished up the stern area this morning. That's a wrap. Thanks for all the interest and comments.

Almost done on my 1/600 Queen Elizabeth. I think if all goes well I will finish her off tomorrow. I installed all the railings on the forecastle and its little platform, the bridge railings, the forward mast and ratlines, some rigging, and the anchors. Tomorrow I will finish up the main mast, rear ratlines and rigging, and a few more railings at the stern. Then it will be onto something else, maybe a Queen Mary.

As the late Dr. John Tilley would say, you are making a silk purse out of a sow's ear!  Your QE II is beautiful!

Bill

Thanks Bill. I'm giving it more attention than I initially thought I would. Straight out of the box it's pretty sparse.

I installed the lifeboats and added more railings. The boats really don't fit very well on the davits but they are now attached. I also had the top most section of railing around the brown area get stuck in a position I didn't want....I hate CA glue for that reason. It will have to stay that way as it's never coming off lol. She is almost done. Another couple of days for a few more railings, masts, ratlines, and 4 or 5 pieces of rigging and I'm gonna call it done.

The Blue Jackets build up gorgous compared to the Trumpeter from what I've seen and size is a matter, course so is skill. Extensive build project though, quite the undertaking and not inexpensive either.

Aha!

Your last comment sums it up! For whatever reason there's a plethora of "Titanics" When there are others that met igniminous ends too. Can you say Lusitania, or Brittanic ?

And for modern ones that come to mind the Andrea Doria and the Costa Concordia! They do now have a Paper model two ship set ! of the  Andrea Doria and the Stockholm with detail sets too. I have a Tanker kit, paper, that looks a lot like the EXXON VALDEZ.

But there's much more. If you really want larger sizes you will have to look to wood. Either Plank on Frame or Plank on Bulkhead! Bluejacket and Sterling Models come to mind. Although I think Sterling may be defunct! I believe it's Bluejacket that has a nice Liberty.

Well that would be a whole new world for me working on a wood ship. I'm pretty new at the plastic ones but maybe someday I'll try it out and see if I have the skillset to do wood. I think you have to have a talent for working with wood that I'm not sure I have. I look at the plastic models as my just assembling parts. I think anyone can assemble a plastic kit whereas you have to be a craftsman to build the wood ships.

Blue Jacket has a nice everything!

Trumpeter of course has a Liberty as well, in plastic.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

More railings on Queen Elizabeth. I am finding that these 1/600 railings are a lot harder to do than 1/350! Tedious for sure and difficult to see and place. If you're standing 2 feet away you don't even see them. Lots more of them to do.

Fascinating, seriously GBY !

you are missing the Brittannic, Olympic, Lusitannia & maybe a few others. can use the Titanic model to do her 2 sister ships Brittannic & Olympic.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympic-class_ocean_liner

I have a built 1/350 Titanic amd a 1/350 Lusitania on hold waiting for parts. I also have a 1/600 and a Trumpeter 1/200 Titanic waiting to be built. Maybe I will turn one into an Olympic some day.

Looks great ! But I just realized that bare hull is shaped just like my Old Town canoe lol !! Not any kind of knock, just a realization. Very similar design,my canoe might have a bit more rocker.

Ya know I've never built a cruise ship. Hmmm. I wouldn't really want to build the Titanic I'd rather stay with something that didn't sink ( just me thinking out loud). And bigger is better or my wife rejects it as a mantel piece lol. I had been looking for larger liberty ships to build, seem to have failed in my search. My father served for a time the last year of WWII on one supplying war ships and doing ship to shore supplies in boats ( LCVP style boats).

That's funny because when I first opened the box I told my friend that it just needs paddles and you could use it as a canoe lol! It really is a huge hull. I have been putting off starting it because I know it will take an immense amount of time to complete as I have bought just about every aftermarket detail part for it that is available. The other thing is it also comes with a lighting kit which I have no experience with whatsoever.
I really don't have a desire to light any of my models but I am leaning towards lighting this Titanic. It is probably the only model I will attempt that on. I bought a bunch of fiber optic rods in different diameters that I plan to run to each porthole...we'll see how it goes. I think it will take a year to do it right so for now I'm having fun with less complicated models. I am also kind of tired of seeing Titanic models everywhere, I wish Trumpeter would have put this effort into a less common ship but I guess that's where the money is.

Some more progress on my 1/600 Queen Elizabeth. Davits are installed, lifeboats are finished, and I am starting to install some railings that will be easier to do now than when the lifeboats are in the way.

Your ship turned out fantasic.  In fact, your juxtaposition of the floor and glass doors as partial background for your models Bridge windows helps to give the impression that she's a good 4+ feet long with detail to match!

Very Nice Work.

I will enjoy your continued efforts on the Railings, Masts, and Rigging. I bet your Lifeboats turn out to be little models in themselves.
