Can you help me on a vintage Revell kit?
Posted by MarionPavan on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 9:48 AM

This is about a vinatge Revell kit from the 50's/60's.  Now I wish that saved all my model catalogs from 1962/63 when I started buying them to the late 70's.  Oh well.....  Actually the more that I think about this one kit, the more that I cannot stop thinking about it.

I already asked this question in the "Hello Forum", and it was suggested that I ask it again in the "Armor" and "Space" forums because, ".....that's where the guys who know this stuff hang out!"  So here goes.....

I remember the Revell catalog of the early 1960's (I'm 56) advertised an Army missile carrier, relatively large, with a Redstone or Corporal missile on a retractable launch ramp.  The driver sat in an enclosed cab off to one side of the missile.  There was an assembled model displayed in the local hobby store and I remember a kid at school who brought an assembled model to school for display.  I think that it retailed for the then unheard of price of $4.98 when most everything else retailed for about $1.98 to $2.98.  (The Revell Cutty Sark Clipper sold for $29.98, a king's ransom of the day.)  The Redstone, Corporal, and Honest John missile models by Revell that I have reviewed pictures of including box art on the web do not match what I'm speaking of here.

Any help will be appreciated.

Respectfully,

Marion Pavan

Marion.  Sorry this is kind of late, but I think what you are looking for is the old Boeing CIM-10 BOMARC missile kit by Renwal.  I may be way off base on this one, but it is the only model that fits your description to me.
