Revell 1:24th Gemini Space Capsule
Posted by Ghostrider114 on Thursday, September 3, 2015 10:42 PM

A few months back I picked up Revell's recent repop of their '60s era 1:24th scale Gemini Space Capsule.  I've waited to start it because I ordered RealSpace Model's and LVM's detail sets for it.  The detail sets finally arrived, so I've pulled it out to work on it.  I'll try to post updates here as I go.

That's a real fun kit. I built one last year. It certainly can use updates and AM to make a proper Gemini. There's a build thread on mine floating around here somewhere...

F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!

U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

N is for NO SURVIVORS...

I can testify to the fact that Stik posted a thread........finding it, however...............Hmm

Looking forward to seeing those aftermarket goodies on the kit. Big Smile

Can you give kind of a summary of what the two PE sets contain?  I have that kit in my stash and want to start it soon.

Yep, Stick did one.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Actually they're not all PE stuff.  The LVM set is a mix of PE and resin parts for the instrument panels, ejection seats and hatch details.  Realspace models' set includes resin replacements for some of the exterior details, like the horizon sensor, RCS thrusters and nose cone, as well as a vacu-formed piece to represent the aft thermal cover, which is missing from the original kit.

The original kit is based on a prototype capsule, so it isn't quite representitive of the flown versions, basically both these detail sets are designed to fix that.

Edit: Upon reading the instructions, I suspect my humble X-Acto razor saw may not be up to the challenge.  I may need to invest in a Dremel tool.

The first step on the LVM instructions is to "Remove the ejection seats from kit part six"
