Out of this world New Year Eve stories!
Posted by SuppressionFire on Monday, January 2, 2012 8:42 AM

Read everyone's stories of what they did this year. Aside from bullets flying in Cook County I see a common theme of more relaxed celebrations than those of past more... wild years.

Now keep everything fairly PC as to not get this thread banished from the forums. As a survivor of the late 80's and early 90's I must say I attended some crazy parties, hosted a few and slept through some (passed out)

My tall tale of high adventure, police intervention and general chaos happened on NYE back in '87...Balloons

Now its up to you guys to tell a few, possibly mine will seem tame in comparison yet I feel the bar needs to be lifted a few notches first, I will add one later on...

So...Devil

What is the best NYE party you remember?

*Passed out or blackouts do not count, must be from your memories and not pieced together like a 'Hangover' movie!Sleep

...Should have posted in the 'armor' forum, surly the Redlegs and Tankers would have something to contribute!

Certain events in life hold a place in your memory hard drive forever. They are not just lived and forgotten but discussed and analized over and over. Debriefing with those that participated in the event helps sort out all angles and views, in this case adding clarity to the blurry bits.

This particular NYE was one of those events, when discussed decades later all in attendace agree it was a game changer for a time of few rules and a weekend ritual we called 'bush parties' Like wild tribes men we let loose built up steam around bon fires, these bashes soon were known as the best around. It was not uncommon to have people show up from the city to celabrate around the fire, far away from our small town.

Now move all this fun to a small community hall on NYE...To add drama and the need of said hall the thermometer was under -40 c. The hall was rented with a innocent 'dance' lable. For the Kings sum of 150$ plus another 150$ DD (Damage Deposit) The logic being a 5$ cover would pay for everything plus a extra 100$ or two for the next weekend. Add 100 party hands and the scene was set for a good evening!

This happened 30 years ago and not really a NYE story, more like NY Day. I was visiting my mother in New York and had gone out with some old high school friends for New Years revelry. We drank at some friend's house and I got eventually got back to my mom's apt. But being a lightweight I wasnt ready for the next day's hangover. I woke up, feeling nauseous, to the phone ringing and it was my aunt in San Jose, who I never met or spoke to before. (Not a close family) I had just graduated college and was entering the work world and I was telling her about my life, so far, in a nutshell. She didnt know that while I was on the phone I was facing the toilet ready to spew at any second. I managed to hold it together and talk nice. The moment I hung up...blammo!  The weird part was that she passed away a few months later from natural causes and had made me the sole beneficiary of her life insurance policy - well into the five figures, and came in handy. All from one bizarre conversation.  -Thanks, Aunt Lois.

Thanks for sharing your story Blocks SUV! Your aunt Lois thought of you in kind favor.

Gooch, Quim and I loaded into my fathers Green Chrysler New Yorker, 'the boat'. Stopped at the liquor store and maybe put $10 gas in the always empty tank. Besides the hall was only a 10 minute drive each way, yet as the evening unfolded hind sight would have added more fuel...Automobile

Eager we arrived early and set up in the far corner away from the chilly door. The hall filled soon after with a whos-who of infamous and notorious party hands. The more colorful ones gathered around us as Gooch and Quim were well known and well liked at parties. Gooch in his drinking days was wild, Quim could talk his way into or out of anything. A good skill to have when the authorities questioned our goings on.

Once everything throttled up I can remember Louie drinking Rye & Coke out of a pitcher  and hitting the table so hard everything on it was airborne! Minor who was in and out of trouble with the law was there, everyone was having a good time and building towards a great NYE. It might have been 11:00 pm.DrinksTime

Then one unwelcome guest arrived that didn't fare well with anyone... (to be continued)

I have a few, but here's the most life changing one.

The first NYE after my wife and I were married (also our first together, introduced in January, engaged in Feburary, married in April(14years almost)) we were attending just a small family get together at my sisters place. Now my wife had always been able to go drink for drink with me, so while I was drinking whiskey which Julie doesnt really like, she and my sister took a quick trip to the bottleshop to split a bottle of vodka between them, she manages to force down a small mixer she wasnt really enjoying before we have to head home (our lift decided to leave early).

About 11pm nothing happening at home with just the two of us board off out nut we head down to a quiet (maybe a dozen people there NYE), local bar 10min walk away. We order a drink each I have no trouble finishing mine but again while Julie is in the mood for drinking (being NYE and all) she just cant seem  to. By the time midnight comes round and management shouts everyone a free champagne to bring in the new year she can only force down a few sips of that.

Come a week later and trip to the doctor the explanation, she's 4-5 week pregnant. Her body or the foetus or both was telling her "NO" when she didnt even know why. (not as freaky as her second pregnancy positive but that another story)

This wasnt the most drunk, outlandish or dumbist NYE for me just the most life changing

Andrew has great news to share, that is obviously non-modeling related. In the interests of keeping the Forums about modeling, we have a suggestion — post this kind of news in the announcements section of your "Public Profile." It's easy to do:

1. Click on Public Profiles

2. Hit "Add Announcement." You see a window very similar to the window you get when starting a new thread or a Conversation.

Other members can comment or respond to your announcement in the comments section below it.

Please keep in mind the rules of Forum decorum should carry through to these announcement and respective comments.

Cheers, Aaron

Sounds like you met the right woman...and knew it.   But that must have been some heavy drinkin' cuz I can't make heads or tails of your sentence, "About 11pm nothing happening at home with just the two of board of out nut we head down to a quiet (maybe a dozen people there NYE) local bar 10min walk away. "  Anyway,  Congrats!
