I've never posted in the Space forum before, but I can't resist bragging a little about my latest book find.
The other night I watched "Apollo 13" for the umpteenth time. As often happens when I watch history-related movies, I got curious about the book on which it was based, Lost Moon, by James Lovell and Jeffrey Kluger. So I went to the Barnes and Noble website.
New copies are ridiculously expensive. But BN operates a "Marketplace" of used book dealers. One of them had a "good" used copy for $2.00. The shipping charge more than doubled the price, of course, but it was still irresistible.
The book arrived today. It looks like it just got taken off a shelf in a bookstore. The dust jacket is also like new. And the biggest surprise came when I opened the book. Captain Lovell's autograph is on the title page. I'm no autograph collector - but what a buy for a total of about $6.00!
One of the nice incidental features of the web is that it's a great hunting ground for book collectors. Whenever I 'm thinking of buying a book, I check www.bn.com and www.bookfinder.com.
