Clear Coat or No Clear Coat
Posted by Marcus McBean on Sunday, February 11, 2018 5:34 PM

I have a panzer IV muntion shulpper painted and ready for weathering.  This version of shulpper did not have any marking on it so the kit did not come with decals.  This is my first kit without decals, so should I still clear coat the model before weathering with washes, dot filters, etc. or can I skip this step?  I used Vallejo model air paints and Model Master enamel paint on the ammo.

A gloss coat will help your washes flow into all the panel lines with out one you'll have a lot more clean up

As Clint says, it would help the washes and so on.

Rambo, Bish, Thanks for the reply. I had the same thoughts but was looking for a second opinion. Marcus
