HGW seatbelts
Posted by wpwar11 on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 7:33 PM

Hey all,

Just finished putting together some HGW belts for the 1/32 Corsair.  They go together without much hassle and look nice.  The instructions did have mislabeled parts and no mention of taking off the backing paper.  Is this common with this product?  Anyway, I want to paint them.  Should this happen before installing on the seat?  I've seen modeling tutorials that show painting after installation to the seat.  Seems easier if this is done first.  Im thinking a wash would be a good choice for this paint operation.
Any thoughts or tricks I need to know before painting and installing them to the seat?

Personally I do all painting before installation.  I do not like molded-in belts because of the difficulties of painting them perfectly.

First time i used HGW belts, i seem to recall having issues until i realised i had to take the backing off. I've never felt the need to paint them as i think they are fine as they are(though would be nice if they were coloured on both sides).

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

I do apply a light wash to give them a bit of a dirty used look
