Making rubber molds
Posted by Tennis Coach on Saturday, March 25, 2023 8:41 PM

Hi folks!

From time to time I make silicon rubber molds to duplicate parts.  Either wooden masters for a scratch built or to replace a missing part,  As many of us do I hold the "master" in modeling clay while pouring the rubber.  The clay can be hard to use unless you really work it.  I had a thought, did anyone try "kinetic sand" to hold the master while pouring the rubber?  Thought I'd ask before investing time and money.

Thanks !

I use modeling clay, and never heard of kinetic sand before.  Reading up on it now, I wouldn't bother with it. It sounds like it'd be more effort to work with than modeling clay.  But that's just my opinion.
