Copying canopies. Help needed!!!

I searched their site too with no luck. You can use thin clear styrene sheets. You need to warm them then plunge them over the original canopy or a master made from wood or resin. Otherwise find someone with an old Mattel Vac Form machine and ask them to do it for you.

If you're in the U.S., I can vac-form a canopy for ya as long as it's under 2 3/4 inches long.  As for plastic, I'd reccomend the Evergreen cleat sheets... But the acetate from blister packs that everything seems to be packaged in these days works well for plunge-forming and draw-forming canopies..

I've found Evergreen clear sheets to be a bit 'hard' for vac or smash-forming a canopy. K&S Engineering (http://www.ksmetals.com) sell packs of PETG plastic which seems to 'slump' easier than Evergreen's clear sheets, while still maintaining excellent strength once the thermoforming as finished.

I've tried acetate as Hans suggests, and while it does not seems as good as the PETG in a quick 'slump', it's certainly a great and cheap alternative!

I just got a couple of sheets of clear "Vivac" from Micro Mark,havn't slapped any on to the platun yet but according to them its the best thing since sliced Acrylate butyl nitro styrene.

From what I've read on other forums Squadron discontinued the clear plastic for vacuform.  Here is a link to a supplier for vacuform plastics.
