I've been thinking about the fact that every single model/diorama I've ever seen has been painted, colored and/or tinted to simulate a scene during the daytime. I think the colors and shading options inherent in a night scene would be interesting at best, and challenging at worst. So I figured I'd try it.I'm thinking of a nighttime street/kerbside scene with a lamppost, and double points if one of you smart cookies can figure out a way to achieve the effect without a full lightbox. Could an implementation of Paine's (I'm sure it's not really his, but figure painting guides use it extensively) stop-sign use for shading be use with a designated light source in the scene?
What are your thoughts?
