Inlet fit / filling?
Posted by Milairjunkie on Monday, July 18, 2011 6:29 AM

I'm doing Trumpeters Tu-160 for the "Made in the USSR GB" & I am having a bit of a dilemma with the engine inlets.

They are built up more or less like a four sided rectangular box with a pointed end & the inlet splitter running through the box. The floors of the inlet's have either been short shot, or I have been far to enthusiastic while cleaning them up, but both inlet floor's are short toward the front where they meet the side panels;

Usually I would fit these together & fill after the fact, but the inlet edges are silver & red on the inside & I won't be able to mask properly when the inlets are built up. The plan was to paint the detail then wrap them up, so I'm looking for any suggestions on how to fix the side panels before fitting them?

The build will be finished in overall white, so I'm thinking that the inlets which will have a bit of colour around them will draw attention to this area & that a poor repair will become a bit of any eyesore.

Any suggestions appreciated.
