Bare Metal Foil - When in the build process to apply
Posted by john087 on Saturday, October 22, 2011 8:44 AM

Hey all,

I am going to try using bare metal foil for the first time.  I am going to use it on the leading edges of a 1/48 FJ4 Fury.

My question is when it the best time to apply.  The main painting is all done and I am ready to seal for decals.  Should I apply before I seal or after I seal.

Any other tips on using this stuff?

Thank you!

John

I would do it after all the painting/sealing but pre-weathering.

Thanks!  I ended up applying then sealing.  I was worried that the clear coat (tam X-22) would take away from the look of the aluminum, but it looks great.

I'll post up pics when finished.  It was a lot easier to do that I thouhgt.  Gonna see where else on future models I can use this stuff as it is pretty cool looking when done.

Thanks!

John
