Simulating Dust
Posted by RESlusher on Saturday, October 29, 2011 5:48 PM

Hope you're all having a great weekend.  How do you guys simulate dust on vehicles?

I'm practicing on an old SA-6 hulk.  In the pic below I sprayed thinned Tamiya "Khaki" (XF-49) at the side from about 10 inches away at 20 PSI.

When I look really closely I can see little, tiny droplets.  Am I not thinning the paint enough?  I made about 6 or 8 passes from front to back.  I welcome your thoughts and advice as always!  Bow Down

I have had good results with the method you describe. Try thinning the paint more, varying the air pressure might also do the trick. Hope it helps, have a nice day
