spotone - has anyone ever tried this for detail washes?
Posted by jgeratic on Thursday, February 23, 2012 6:28 PM

Rummaging through the basement one day I discovered three bottles of this.  It was from my college days from a darkroom photography class and was used to touch up b/w prints.  The bottles are numbered 1, 2, and 3 with the no.2 being a dark sepia colour and the other two are dark blue and grey.

I think back in the day  water could be used to dilute them and on the bottles themselves instructions indicate they can be mixed with one another to create other shades. So any opinions on my posted question?

Here is a rare google image I found of the product.  Apparently this brand has been oop for some time now.

regards,

Jack

While  I have never used spotone per se, I have used other inks (I believe Spotone is basically an ink).  Works okay.

just make sure you protect your basecoat, and play it safe by testing it on an old model.
