What to use to cut apart canopies

Just what it says I used the smallest saw I had but I ruined it as it cut way too much out.

I am wonder tho Are these photo etch saws any good for that sort of work or would a very fine jewelers saw work better?, or is there any other method of cutting canopies apart without destroying them?.

The JLC saw will be your best bet

The saw blade has two sets of teeth on it - make sure to use the finer set to cut the canopy. Fill the canopy with blue-tac or silly putty, or some other non-permanent putty (like used for hanging posters), The putty will support the canopy and help you to see the frame lines, as well. Go slow and you'll be fine. I do it all the time on 1/72 planes.

The model car folks deal with this often (opening doors, trunks etc). Here is a pretty lengthy discussion on the topic. I have not tried it yet but know some guys that swear by the sewing thread method.

These: http://www.ottofrei.com/store/home.php?cat=1139 are a little on the high end, but anything similar will work well. I live by a good jeweler's saw. Fine blades break easily, so remember - slow is faster. Get into a good rythm, and go slow.
