Washes and raised panel lines

This style of detail molding is best approached a different way.  Paint the raised lines black followed with a protective clear coat.   After completely dry, apply the main colour(s).  Again, after properly cured, use a fine grade sand paper on the raised line to expose the black paint.

That's awesome, I hadn't thought of that.

I had been using a wash, and it didn't come out as well as I would have liked.
