I clear-coated the nose of my Spirit of St. Louis kit after applying decals and some weathering.  I _think_ I used Model Master High-Gloss Clear, but don't completely remember.  Interestingly enough, it did turn a little amber, which, to me, added to the effect I was after:

i covered mine with alclad light sheen. i didnt like the "kit-Kat bar" perfection of the foil as it was an in service plane and gloss coat just made it too shiney for my personal preference.

Yes you can, I had a heavily foiled lowrider model that I did in all acrylic and I put a ton of future on it and polished the daylights out of it.  Kept most of the foil from lifting and did not yellow over time.  The mode sadly succumbed to other events.

To add on to this topic, can you use future over bare metal foil?  I've had so-so results with testors glosscote in the past.  Thank you!

I  thought the plane was aluminum painted.  Most of that plane was fabric covered, or fabric covered plywood.

The entire plane!  It's the Lindberg Laird-Turner Meteor.

Hi guys,

i'm about 95% done foiling a Laird-Yurner Meteor.  I was wondering if one should apply some sort of clear sealant over top of it after I apply the decals.  What are your thoughts/experiences?

Thanks!

Eric
