LIUB

This is my first time ever attempting to build a model of anything. I've purchased Revell's 1:444 scale model of space shuttle Discovery. This model means a lot to me, and I really want to get this right! I could use all of the advice possible on how to work with model pieces, how to paint, glue, sand, and assemble this shuttle. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Here's a link of the model I purchased

I'm half way thru it as a novice. Sequence of assembly and paint needs to be thought out is what I've learned so far. I'll be anxious to follow your threads.

The site itself offers many publications for sale on modeling techniques that could be helpful.

There is a forum just for real space stuff, not scifi.  I suggest you check into that forum.  It is in the "modeling subjects" hierarchy right below ships.  The experts in real space will be there.  Painting is pretty much the same for most genre of models, however, so the "painting and airbrushing" forum, just below this forum, is a good place for help on that subject.

If you are not an experienced modeler, the main thing that folks will recommend is PRACTICE.  Find some scrap plastic around the house and practice gluing, painting, and such, before you start working on the actual kit.
