Sorry, just saw Borg's post now.

In theory I would agree with that approach, as it's pretty common practice.  But this does not seem to be that, as the 'regions' are very wide.

•EU residents will most likely see EUR currency.

•US residents (and rest of the world) will only see USD currency.

•Czech residents will see CZK currency.

So that means most of the world sees USD (but at 50%+ the Czech listing)?

Anyway, I have made peace with this now.  I owe, I owe, of to eBay I go...  :)

Thanks for the replies James, Bish and Nathan.  Your comments make perfect sense.

To be fair then, it is what it is. I have already made good use of eBay and the deals I have found there, I was just surprised that when going direct to the horse's mouth there would be such a difference.  That said, in the local Czech prices the offerings are pretty good from an SA perspective, that's how I ended up querying this. Pity.

Thanks again.  Happy modelling!

Doesn't seem fair to me, or am I just being silly?

I am not sure, one of the reasons to have different prices in different regions might be because of agreements that they have with their local importer. That way they do not undercut the prices of their importer.

You are dealing with Eastern Europe as well as the EU so there are different trading rules and standards. Quite often retailers in the East see the West and other countries as swimming in loot and so inflate prices according to their whim!

I am not decrying Eduard at all as I use their products frequently. I go and look at their website and note their products and prices and download instructions for various packs that I want and then use Ebay to get the best prices inc shipping. Some times sellers on Ebay will give free shipping if you spend a certain amount with them

That does seem strange because if anything the price should go down as you shouldn't be paying the taxes imposed by the EU, namely VAT. It does seem a bit out of order to me.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Just how the real world works. Its gotta be much more cost effective to order through a retailer in the U.S. Just compare prices on various U.S. Internet hobby sites, and you will find much better deals. If you do order through Eduard, I think you get free shipping after a $100 order? Or is it $150 order?

Hi All

Having recently returned to scale model building, I admit to being a lurker for some time  :)  Apologies that this gripe post serves as my introduction...

Adding detail using PE/resin is something new that I have been venturing into over the last few months, and due to the lack of variety of LHS here in South Africa that cater to this level of PSM building, I spend quite a lot of time buying from websites in the UK, Aus, and the US. Sometimes though, one can get a good deal through the original source, such as Eduard.

This is where I noticed something strange on the Eduard website, and I would like to know if anyone else has noticed this.

When I add a product without logging in (for example 49337) it is listed as 325 Kc.

If I then login, the currency changes to US Dollar, but now the same item is $25.

This is the equivalent of 492 Kc?

I sent a mail off to their support as it seemed wrong to me that one would have to pay shipping as well as an inflated price just because you are in anther region of the world.  In my experience, other sites do not do this?

Support replied that; "Note that we have different prices for different regions, that's why you're seeing prices that doesn't make sense when converting them."

Doesn't seem fair to me, or am I just being silly?

Thanks

Liam
