How to draw your own cardboard boxes?
Posted by xavier on Saturday, September 17, 2005 6:54 PM
Hi all:
Some years ago, François Verlinden wrote an article explaining how to draw your own cardbord boxes. There's a technical name some-graphy Wink [;)] Does anyone know the name? It'll make it easier to track down the article or the technique.
Thanks!

You can do it pretty easily using your computer and a graphics program like Power Point or Corell draw. Check out my soda case article to see the results.

The same technique can be used for any boxes. I make all types.

I thought I was the only one who did dielines in excel! I work in printing and use that program to draw up all sorts of things like this.

What size "cell" do you work with? I find changing the cell width to 1.77 gives a nice square grid to work with.

So long folks!

Sorry, have no idea what you are talking about. I just draw boxes in PPT with the box tool to the sizes I need. I haven't personally used the Corell Draw, but I know a guy who does. PPT works for me.

I used photoshop to print my decals. But apparently the 22MB of a 8 1/2 by 11 sheet killed my printer. =(

Sorry to confuse you. I was using excel and read your post and got mixed up! Maybe I am the only one drawing dielines in excel!

If you have powerpoint, you probably have excel. If you resize all the cells to 1.77 wide, you get a grid. It is then quite easy to move and place the boxes you make. The same drawing toolbar is used.

So long folks!
