                        I use Tamiya XF-21 Flat Base mixed with Future. Note that XF-21 is a BASE, not a paint and cannot be used alone. Mixed with Future it will cause it to flatten and you can control the appearance by varying the ratio of Future to XF-21. About 5 parts Future to 1 part XF-21 gives me a satin or semi-gloss finish. Three to four parts Future to 1 part XF-21 is pretty flat. The more XF-21 the flatter the appearance.

                        Humbrol Satin Cote works well for me. I'd imagine that you could mix your gloss and satin paints until you get the finish you want. Experiment on an unwanted model or scrap plastic first, though.

                        I have a little bottle of stuff called micro satin made by Microscale which you should be able to find over your way. I am also fairly sure that Humbrol make a semi gloss as well. I have also used Future ( which I can only get when friends travel to the US, you should see the looks I get when I ask them to bring back a bottle of floor polish!!!) in a very light coat which gives a semi gloss look. I don't know about mixing flat and gloss, but I wouldn't do it unless one of the experts in this forum said it worked.

                        hey guys,

                        I was curious if I could mix Model Master flat and gloss coats to get a semi gloss coat finish? It's for my bf-109G I am working on. I know that the German planes didn't have the dull flat finish thar the american planes did, and I don't know what to use as a final coat. What do you guys do? I don't want it too flat but I also dont want it too glossy. I hope I am making sense here.
                        Is there something out there I can buy that is in between or do I mix the gloss and flat to get a semi-gloss finish? Confused [%-)]
                        any help or comments are appreaciated, thanks!
