Revell putty softener needed.

Hi,
anyone out there knows a softener for Revell putty? The putty comes in a blue tube type. Acetone dont seem to work on dried putty. The only way i can shape it is by sanding it and this filler/ putty often has pitholes in it. Sanding it also often make a mess of the plastic details.

I use as swanny's or other modelers technique here. If you have future (in Malay I think future sold at Ace hardware), just mix with baby talcum powder. To remove the excess, I usually only swap with tissue/cotton bud (dip into wiper fluid or windex before). Very smooth and don't need sanding at all. I don't know the exact softener for revell putty, is that a lacquer base?

After putty dries you aren't supposed to be able to soften it. If you want to see something hard, try some Milliput sometime. It is epoxy putty and once it dries it is hard as concrete.

Try Matt's method, as beSeen mentioned, at this link:

Use pieces of masking tape along the edges of the area to be puttied. Once the putty is in place, immediately smooth it down with a Q-Tip moistened with acetone. Let it dry and then sand smooth.
