Veda airbrush

They look like another Fengda/Royal/Chinese/Clone products - very cheap, but mileage can vary.

I've seen some good reviews of a "Veda" airbrush. It may go by other names too.

They claim it actually comes from the same production line as a "brand name" airbrush (Iwata???) the only difference being its not "brand name" badged.

Anyone know about these? Are they just another Harbour Freight type inferior knock off?

I don't have any first hand information on the Veda airbrush. Here is the manufacturer's webpage. They did not claim making airbrush for any major airbrush brand. They may make some of the cosmetic or nail airbrush sold with a different "brand name" than Veda.

It is interesting to note that their product line almost duplicate that of Fenghua Bida. Is it a knock-off of the knock-off?

Don't buy any cheap knock-off airbrush, it's a waste of time and money.

Buy a Badger and be done with it.

I cannot understand how people can buy quality models, paints, glues, etc and then skimp on an airbrush that costs less than the price of some kits.

I don't think that this Chuck Bauman knew what he was talking about. Anyone made claims like that without even openning up the airbrush for comparison to a name brand airbrush is not to be trusted. He can make up stories about all airbrushes are made in China, but it does not make that true. There were misinformation on this FSM forum too. But at least, most posters are not making things up to sell something like Chuck Bauman.

If interested, you can get something similar from TCPGlobal through Amazon for $33. It looks like the Veda WD180, but you never know what you may get buying some made-in-China airbrush. The user reviews are mixed at best.

Yes, there are modelers who insists that he/she just want to use an airbrush. The shape, material and finish quality of the parts inside does not matter to him. Let's just say, you get what you paid for.

Yes, I have 2 Powercat brand airbrushes made by Fenghua Bida. I bought them out of curiosity and want to compare them to my Iwata. BTW the needle and nozzle dimension are all different from the Iwata, so parts are not interchangeable.

There are a rake of brands coming from China (Fengda, Royal, Veda, Tagore, Wenzhou, Wellmax....) that are either in bed with each other, using parts from the same foundry or ripping each other off - these airbrushes all seem to share the same design & even the same model numbers, the are often completely re-branded..........

As far I can see all these brushes suffer from the same basic problems, nozzle issues & quality control, some work fine straight from the box & some don't.

To quote the site regarding Veda;

If they were identical, then parts would be interchangeable.  I think you will find that they are not.

mitsdude is smart enough to come here to ask. But I am afraid that many more were already duded into believing it by this Chuck Bauman guy.

He probably figured out that people will need an airbrush before buying his DVD. He could have a deal with the airbrush seller in Hong Kong too. He just made things up along the way to help the sale.

I watched the youtube info, bought the Veda 130 from ebay. got it, tested it and ordered another :) 

I think its true the needles may be a bit softer at the tip or maybe it was just me and with the first one I pulled the tip dry off a bit rougher than I did on my Iwatas (AR, BCS and HP-C.) 

I have now ordered the Veda version (0.2mm) of the CM-C Plus (which has a 0.23mm needle and nozzle) so i do not expect it to be exactly the same, I do expect it will be a good AB tho

I have had a couple of other very cheap AB which i have to say were rubbish and as they were my first AB it took me time to work out the prob was not just me  hence the purchase of the Iwatas

G D, welcome to the forum. In you first post, you found the topic on an airbrush you just purchased. Do you use the airbrushes in modeling? 

Hi, thanks for the welcome and asking  if I use the airbrushes in modeling,

I have to own up to the fact that modeling is a very small part of what I now use the AB for,  my young son is the modeler and he is the excuse I used to justify the expense of the airbrushes and compressor setup in the first place :) 

We started with acrylics eg Vallejo and GW paints, I liked it and experimented with other mediums, eventually landing on using Createx for fabric eg Tshirt painting, which is currently my main daily usage (It pays,) 

I still do my son's models as and when requested  ;)  he likes to have me airbrush the foundation paints and shading etc especially on larger items like tanks and scenery, then he does the really fine detail work and dry brushing etc by hand.  YouTube is most helpful when it comes to how to.....    :)
