Complete paint sets?

Quite a few Tamiya sets on ebay at the moment.

I buy everything individual as I rarely find a set with exactly what I need.

it includes LifeColor, Vallejo, Mig, AK, Badger, then on the second page there are Model Master full sets and Tamiya full sets

there is all kinds of small sets and individual bottles scattered in there as well, but, you will recognize the "full sets" when you see them

Vallejo do sell a 72 Military paint set in various online hobby sites. You just got to find who offers itthe best price. Vallejo also have various paint sets for different subjects. ie: WW2 Allied, WW2 German Luftwaffe, WW2 USN, etc...

I buy paint I need for the subject(s) I'm working on or in my stash. It's nice to have it on hand ahead of time. Once in awhile I might pick up a color I never heard of or oddball brand paint just to have it. I have Gunze Sangyo's White Green (haven't figured out what's the color I can use for), and Steel Red as well as a couple of Russian brand paints called Akah. I have both A-14 Steel Grey (used forinterior metal & wood surfaces {wheel wells, wing flaps, engine mounts/frameworks, aircraft engines, and wheel discs of aircrafts} and Old Tires Dark Grey which I use for tires on most aircrafts.

It doesn't hurt to pick up an unusual color for you'll never know what it can be used for.

Thanks all - I ended up stretching the budget a bit (meaning sadly no going out for lunch at work for a few months) to purchase the Vallejo 72 color military set - but very nice paint set!

Unlike Tamiya, MM and Life Color acrylics, Vallejo is not a "spray and forget" type paint for airbrushing. You have to find your magic formula to make it work well for airbrushing.  Cleaning is more difficult because you cannot simply use IPA or Windex.  If you plan to mainly hand brush, Vallejo is an excellent choice.

I hear Vallejo Model Air are great for airbrushing. They don't require any thinning whatsoever. Just put a few drops in and spray. Regular Vallejo paint need to be thinned with their own thinner for airbrushing.

Last year I sprung for the Vallejo Military Color Set (which is model color) and also the Model Air Base Set (which obviously is Model Air). They have become my go-to paints. I hope you enjoy your military colors set as much as I have mine.

Note that if you bought the set I think you bought, it is model color. Fantastic for brushing as Chris mentioned above, best I've found. For airbrushing, it needs to be aggressively thinned. Perhaps 1:1 as a starting point. I'd go with a larger nozzle/tip if airbrushing the model air, too. I'd guess .35mm minimum. I'm doing some testing with a .5mm, just for fun.

Thanks for the tips everyone.  The set I purchased is the Military Colors Model Color Paint Set so I will pay attention to thinning
