How do you strip acrylic water based paint off of vinyl?

Hi all, have an old horizon vinyl figure I am trying to paint, but the water based spray I put on it is too thick and unrealistic - any solvent or cleaner I can use that won't eat or attack the soft vinyl underneath?  This is why I don't like vinyl and acrylic paints - thanks for the help

What spray did you use?  An alcohol-based acrylic like Tamiya can be easily removed with alcohol or Windex.  A water-based acrylic like Vallejo can be removed with lacquer thinner or acetone, but it will damage vinyl.

I found a happy solution on a sci if modeling site - pine sol!  I dropped it in and the paint dissolved in about a day and a half - and it smells good to boot!  So if anyone is wondering pine sol will not harm vinyl and works awesome
