Purchased Tamiya's Spray Work Painting Booth, need exhaust hose help.

Hey guys!  I have the above and was wondering what type of exhaust hose to purchase for it?   It came with an exhaust hose, but I need a longer one, say 5 feet.  Thanks for the help!

Any home improvement store should have what you need. I bought 4" ducting from Home Depot for pretty cheap. It's collapsible, think "accordian" style so it stretches pretty far

Hope this helps.

Jeff

Jeff,

Thanks for responding.  Do you have this same spray booth?  If so, how is it working for you?  The style exhaust hose you're talking about, is it smooth on the inside?  I currently have ribbed type dryer vent, that I haven't connected yet.  I read in an Airbrushing Basics Book that the vent should be smooth to not cause the exhaust fan to work any harder than needed.

Hi! Same happens to me. Just bought the booth and need more extension hoses. I am a bit frustrated since in the manual says you can buy additional tamiya hose pieces..  but, where? Not a single code, and no store seems to carry it neither. Ebay included. It is just me not looking in the right place? In first instance I'd really like to buy additional original extensions from Tamiya.

Regards!!

Metal flex duct is better than the "dryer hose" you are using now.  Anything (like ribbing) inside the duct that reduces or eliminates laminar airflow causes resistance, which causes the static pressure to exceed the capabilities of the motor.

In addition, you need to be careful of exhaust hose length--for the same reasons. Check your instructions to see if the booth has a designated maximum hose length.  Last, try to avoid a lot of bends in your ducting, especially of the 90-degree variety.

By the way, flex duct can usually be found at your local Home DIY centers, and possibly at home appliance stores.

Good luck with your booth.

Thanks! I purchased a PVC tube and it seems to be working good though it is quite heavy. It is true what you say about laminar flow, I don't want drag in my exhaust!

 regards!
