My opinion is to save it (becuase it has sentimental value) and build another one...this time using a different sealer.

Yellowed clearcoat

A few years ago I did a fairly good job with painting a Bf-109E, but then brush applied a clear cloat using Model Master's Clear Top Coat just over the decals (all painting was with enamels).  My objective was to weather it and I wanted a good sealer over the decals.  Anyway, time got the better of me and I pulled the aircraft out of storage recently only to find the finish had yellowed where I had brushed the clearcoat.  I checked the bottle of Clear Top Coat and sure enough, it was yellow as well!

Any way to correct this?  I hate the idea of ruining the paint job underneath as I'm pretty proud of that.  Is there a solvent that if applied sparingly will take thin layers off?  Would I be better off sanding with 12000 grit and using lots of patience?  Or, worse case, just chucking it and starting anew?  The yellowing is very obvious.
