Paint Intervals

When painting most people seem to be using multiple coast to achieve the desired coverage. From what I am reading on the list; there could be 3 to 10 coats. How much time is there between coats, and how does that time vary between enamel and acrylic paints.

Several factors play in this. The paint, how it is thinned, with what, temperature, humidity, gloss or flat. The varibles are many.

Welll.when I'm painting a car model,I usually follow Tamiya's guidelines and wait two hours between coats.Seems to work out quite well.

First off, follow the manufacturer's recommendations, if any. Otherwise, as a general rule of thumb, wait at least until the paint is tack-free.

Some coatings, such as Future and some glosses, need different standing times. Some glosses need to be recoated at a specific time, or after full cure. Future can be applied on top of Future as soon as it's tacky, but should be cured 48 hours before overcoating or masking with other paints.
