Tamiya white liquid surface primer + Alclad II Polished Aluminum = soaked primer

Anyone try using Mr. Surfacer 1000 as a primer for Alclad? In this case, for Alclad White Aluminum.

Don't use an water based Acrylic as a base coat, the final coat of Alclad will cause the finish to crack.  TS-14 is reccomended because it is lacquer based, same as the Alclad.  You can use a gloss enamel as a base coat.

If you are using one of the high shine finishes your base coat should be a highly polished gloss black.  Quote from Alclad site "ALCLAD High Shine -Chrome and Polished Aluminium both require a dark glossy base. Any other finish should be sprayed on a very smooth finish.  A grainy primer will ruin the finish.

If you are using a primer it needs to be polished before applying the Alclad.
