Cup and jar keep falling out of my badger 350

Are you sure you have the right bottle/cup for your airbrush? I've been airbrushing since 1982 and never had this problem with my Paasche H, Paasche VL or my Badger 150. I do know the VL and 150 have different sized sleeves and one is smaller than the other.

Those $16 things aren't worth the cost of doing an internet search for them.

Try this.  Install the jar empty on the airbrush and give it a little twist as you push it on.  Now try to pull it off.  If it's hard to pull off, that was your problem.  It should come off easy if you twist as you pull.

I don't know of any other way to do it. However, I will be very surprised if FALCOn10275 had not been doing what you suggested. "That's the only way to go."

Badger is one of the airbrush maker whose manual cannot be found on the net. I don't know how well written is the Badger 350 manual. I have electronic version of manuals from Iwata, Paasche, Airbrush City and Airbrush-Depot of items that I have or interested in purchasing. Here is the paragraph from my Paashce H AB on cup and bottle attachment: 

3. Attach Color Cup or Bottle to HN-1, 3, or 5 Needle by exerting a firm twisting motion to fit tapered tube securely into tapered Needle inlet. For HNS-1, 3 or 5 fasten swivel nut to threaded coupling on bottle. To remove Color Cup from HN- Needle, exert a backwards twisting pulling motion.

4. Fill Color Cup or Bottle 1/2 to 3/4 full. Use eyedropper or

 Twisting motion worked.  Last night I did one of the best airbrush jobs yet because I wasn't worried about the color cup!!!

 One little sentence in the badger instruction sheet sure would have saved me about a year worth of trouble

Sometimes things that seem obvious once you know them, aren't so obvious when you don't.

There is nothing in the 350 manual that says to twist.

Well that's why we are here to help Don. All of us have done things we now realize was simple after another modeler pointed it out to us.

That's a big surprise and I won't have guessed it. I could not find any manuals at the product or support pages at the Badger web site and had not seen a Badger manual before.

Since my Paasche H manual is very clear on "twisting" the cup, I expected the manuals from other makers would not have missed something so basic. I know that it is just common sense, but why not saying it explicitly in the manual.

Here is the Badger page for the model 350.  Notice where it says "click image to view instruction book".  My guess is that it was left out because they just didn't think about it.

Or maybe Badger felt that people would press the cup in tighter and not assume just pushing it in would suffice? 

When most things are press fit together the normal reaction I have is to push them together tightly as there is no threads or mechanical means of holding them together. 

Certainly not to beat a dead horse or start a flame war, but I pulled out my trusty 350 this morning to see for myself what the deal is with the color cup.  Reason being is that Badger has been selling that brush for forever and three Sundays and that topic has not come up.  Badger's instruction booklets in general are very informative as to airbrush use.  The Vega, Omni, and Renegade brushes use leaflets that cover general use because thay are marketed towards the experienced airbrush user.  As far as the 350 goes, my humble conclusion is that, although most of us do twist, it is not required.  A simple, but firm, push will seat it very well and requires a steady pull to take it out.  The original poster may have had some other issues with his brush, but my color cup stayed put.  I experimented with both Badger's and Paasche's cup.

If you never had the cup falling out, continue to do what you did. If not, try "twisting" when pushing the cup in.
