Tamiya Decanted AS Paints - Thinner?
Posted by Snacko on Saturday, June 20, 2009 4:16 AM

Hi guys - I am in the process of fininishing an F-16 model and I am relegated in using Tamiya paints (pretty much all that is available in my area).  The best match for external colors are some of the AS spray cans that Tamilya produces.  Since I prefer to AB anyway, I have decanted these into glass jars.  So far so good...

But it does have me thinking - although I haven't tested the consistancy yet, the paint as decanted seems pretty AB-ready, but I may need to thin it at some point.  I have read in other posts that Tamiya AS paints are laquer-based (syntetic laquer apparently).  So would this imply that the best thiner would be Tamily Laquer Thinner, or is it possibe to get X20 Thinner (enamel) to work?  X20 is more available where I live.

Thanks,

Eric
