I like using the masking tape and cutting out the wheel well.. Has worked pretty good to this point. Haven't tried the tissue stuffing. Maybe my next kit just to see.

I paint both before assembly or after. Depends on the intracy of the well. The tissue stuffing works well for using paint while assembly. Other wise you can mask over the well by covering it and the surrounding surfaces with tape then cut the well out line out with a sharp knife to expose the well.

paint the white inners first..stuff it full of tissue and mask the doors, then paint the outer color

Aircraft wheel well/main color scheme

Any tips for painting the main color scheme after painting the wheel well areas (white) on an aircraft? Building a 1/48 scale F-18 Navy Blue Angel. It seems that masking off the wheel wells would be difficult without getting any of the main clor into the well areas.
