i just bought my first academy model and it looks great but in the back of the instruction book there is a chart of colours well the names of colours and some numbers but there is no mention of what brand of paint to use so if there is any other academy modelers out there can u tell me what brand of paint is recommended for academy

Hi David,

Of the Academy kits I've had, none specify any particular brand of paint. Usually they just use generic descriptions (black, white, silver) or give a FS (Federal Standard) number for particular colours.

There are plenty of knowlegeable people here. Please tell us what model you're building and preferred brand of paint and someone will be able to suggest the recommended colours. If you are looking for FS matches, you should be able to find exact matches from most brands except Tamiya, which are a little limited.

yea i thought that. Im building an old(and i think out of production) F-86F-30 sabre in which case i considered using alclad 2 for the main colour as it has a metal finish
