Ideal Order of Build
Posted by MikeS71 on Sunday, July 19, 2009 8:13 PM

So I am working on my third build, (Revell 1/48 F-18F).  This will be the first I do using an airbrush.  the previous builds were done using good old Tamiya sprays.

So my question is this, how much to build before painting the base coat?  Right now I have the fuselage, cockpit, nose, ailerons, and stabilizers on...  should I put the weapon pylons on or wait? I figure I'll buld the antenna etc before as well, what about the tail-hook?   All those little stabilizers etc..

Any tips?  Hoping to avoid learning lessons the hard-way!

Yes I would put the weapons pylons on as they are the same color as the underside.

I assemble the entire aircraft before painting and leave off the canopy, tail hook, weapons, landing gear and wheels until later.
