Well alright it sounds like I have been approaching this Future thing wrong!  Good to know.  That said, how do you folks feel about the Badger 350 for a second/back up brush?  Or should I not be greedy and just stick with the 155/250 combo I have.

Out of curiosity, those of you with more than one brush, how and why do you split painting duties among them?

Thanks

Mike

I realize the 360 has that siphon/gravity feed gimmick. The tip, needle and most parts are identical. The 360 is simply a 155 that can gravity feed... but only small amounts. :)

This is true. Internally they are the same airbrush.

I own both as well. Surprising huh? Laugh [(-D]

Like a few of the other guys I too just brush my Future it works great with easy cleanup. I think it's actually easier to brush it on than spray it myself.

The few times I did spray it I used my ..... wait for it ...... 155 anthem!! Not hard to clean Future is acrylic so I just clean with windex.

I would NOT spend the money on another airbrush.

And just to throw in the guy that suggested the 360? It's the same brush as the 155.

Um, no, it is not. The 155 (I have one by the way) is not the same. The 155 is a straight siphon fed. Even if you add a side color cup, (got one of those too) it is still siphon fed.

The 360 can be either. I use mine strictley as a gravity fed but it can be rotated and used as a siphon fed AB. The "360" is a little misleading since you actually turn it 180 degrees to change it up.

If you mean that the interior parts are the same then I believe you are correct since I had a crack in my 360 tip and took the one out of the 155 and swapped it.

Just wanted to clear that up.

Jeff

I've sprayed Future with my 155 with no ill effects.  I just ran some Windex through it and then cleaned with lacquer thinner like I normally do.  Future is just an acrylic finish.  I can't see why you would need a special airbrush.  If you're concerned, just brush it on with a flat sable brush.  It brushes like a dream.  Here's a sample.

Sign - Ditto [#ditto]And two things I've learned. It's really worth purging any water out of the brush before spraying, both the trap and the line. Otherwise beads come out, moreso than with most paints. And a drop of liquid dish soap in it helps combat orange peel, or shrinking when it dries. I usually put it on with a big brush as noted, just to save an a/b cleaning step, tho no big deal.

It seems to have a limited shelf life too. After a while it gets a little milky. I'm no believer in ruining a hard fought model to save a nickel, so I buy new Future every year or so.

Badger has the 360 available from their Garage Sale for 79 bucks. I have had mine for about 2 years and it's my workhorse for everything. Unless you are building something huge, one cupfull of Future will normally be all you need. I build 1:48 aircraft and 1:35 armor and have never had to reload when I spray Future. If you swap out brands of AB's I believe you have to swap out hoses and fittings altough I may be wrong. Hope this helps.

Jeff

Yeah, I never use very much Future but with the 250 it seems I can only really get a heavy coat out of it.  I suppose some practise would help out with that!  I would rather not use the 155 for Future as it seems that most threads I have run across people avoid using their main brush for Future or other finishing coats.  Maybe I am just being silly!  Ha ha!!

If you get a Hobby Lobby 40% off cupon, get a Paasche model H airbrush.  It's a solid inexpensive airbrush that performs as well as the Badger 155.  It also has the capability to change tips, unlike the Badger.  Tips are 1 (small), 3 (medium) and 5 (large).  The H kit usually comes with the #3 tip and can be used for almost any situation.

The Badger 350 is like the Paasche airbrush and Michael's usually has them.  May be it would be better for you because it uses the same air hose.

Recommendation for Future spraying

Hello all,

OK so I have a Bager 155 that I use for painting and a cheap-o Badger 250 that I use for applying Future.  I would like to pick up something in the middle of these two for applying Future but has more control than the 250(all or nothing baby!).  Another 155 seems like overkill.  Do any of the cheaper Badgers share parts with the 155?  Should I just stick with what I have?  I would prefer to stick with Badger as that is what the local Michael's carries and I am generally swimming in their 40% off coupons, but other suggetions will be entertained!

Thank you

Mike
